Briefing. The Mammography System was an OEM system that was based on Mammomat from Siemens. The main task was to create a design, which was distinctive and that would carry the Healthcare product identity to make it part of the Philips product portfolio. After intensive user research a solution was created, which focused on the optimal patient positioning, the best accessibility to the patient’s breast and an ergonomic location for the hardware user’s interfaces.
In addition, we designed a dedicated workstation, which integrated all the needs of the radiographer and that supported a smooth workflow and a clutter free workspace. The users could store personal belongings and move keypad and mouse out of the way if not needed. The design was made as open, light and transparent as possible in order to avoid creating a barrier that might make patients feel intimidated and left alone.
